The long awaited (at least by King Charles) and much anticipated Coronation Day is here. And of course it’s raining! (Or should that be reigning….😂).

We’re staying close to the action in Central London, but we choose to stay dry (and away from the crowds) and watch the Coronation on television. Although a contingent from the Royal Horse Artillery comes galloping down the road outside our AirBnB on their way to joining in the military procession

Later in the afternoon we do venture out into the rain and wondered up to Marble Arch, hoping even to get as far as Buckingham Palace

We did make it a little past this crown, but in the end defeated by rain and huge crowds we gave up and headed back “home”.

Next day though, the sun is shining and we do reach Buckingham Palace and The Mall

Rounding off our Coronation experience, and definite highlight is a visit to Westminster Abbey’s “Coronation Theatre”. All the seating for the Coronation invitees had been removed, but the main bits are left in place for just the week following the big day…..
